The Hero’s Journey Assignment Choices: The symbolism in your story should be more than an explanation of a natural phenomena. Symbols should represent life lessons and reveal life's meaning in significant ways. You will have an opportunity to read your writing aloud to the class.
  1. Write a myth/story that represents your life, your family’s life, or the life of someone you know well.
  2. Write a personal essay about a dragon that you must slay (a fear to overcome) and/or your anticipated Holy Grail.
  3. Create a piece of artwork that represents your journey, your family’s journey, or the journey of someone you know well. Write a statement that explains its meaning.
